we hit squirrel gap and laurel mountain, chased it with some crazy downhill shit on pilot rock. the ride was awesome, it was like a compilation of all the trails in wisconsin rolled up in to one ride. we had probably 4.5 to 5 hours of ride time, total on the bike about 6 hours.

Here is a view of Misiu Chudy hauling ass on the ridge of bent creek leaving Ingles field gap. we have been a touch tired from the few days post hater, but we have been doing well none the less.
the book said that the loops that we did today were 1.5 hours for advanced, and we have killed both of them in less than 1 hour. not bad for some flatlanders.
we had some very wet weather today, actually it poured at 2pm. we were on the trails at 430 and needless to say you could still see the results. the downhills were sketchy due to grease, but all great none the less.

H8TR to Pisgah at 100 mph. im not going to confirm or deny that the vehicle actually hit 100 mph, on this trip or a previous trip, but i will state that at some point in the past, the wheel of the subaru were traveling at a rate that was photographed. i will admit that we made great time.

we made it to Pisgah by 5 and got a solid ride in on the first day. we rode up trace ridge and maciej's legs started well, and i had to search for post H8TR power to finish the climbs. this shit here is hard. the climbs go on forever and the downhills are sick. there is a mix of all types of surfaces, gravel, rock, dirt, roots, leaves and sand.

H8TR report:

The hater was brutal, only to be expected.  My legs went well at the start, but the efforts that were needed to stay with the lead groups were just a touch too much to sustain.  No complaints here though, the dry wall had to come at a price.  Not bad for one ride in March since the 8th when I went to Madison to visit Lalondeski.  The end result of the hater was a handful of new acquaintances sharing in the sufferfest, and a tenth place finish.  Not bad for a short three on two bottles.  After fears that the H8tr gave me gonorrhea, I was relieved to have the burning sensation during urination disappear this morning.

NC report.

If you didn’t know, Maciej and I are enroute to NC to ride Tsali and Pisgah.  Hopefully, epic rides and views, most of the week should be about 65 and sunny.  That shit is epic enough.

We rolled out of Madison at about 9ish (PM) after building a machine for maciej to pedal; my steed stayed dirty, I only shot some WD-40 on the front derailleur to wake it from a winter full of big ring rides.  We called up Lalondeski and went to get a doughnut from greenbush, and for a second time, their unwavering schedule lied and denied me from a virgin experience once again.  So I had to get mine from a display humping bunny and the local grocery store.

We crashed out short of Indianapolis, grabbing a much needed 6 hours of sleep, woke and have been shredding the road since.  We are a touch outside of Louisville, going to stop for food and gas, and will get back at it.  The goal is to get 2 to 3 on the trail today and rest up tomorrow.

Well, i have been doing a lot of riding. there are days that i dont though, as i ride when i feel like it. i also have spent a bit of time on the 2nd floor, and i have made some sweet progress.

the house: i have all of the venting done, the electrical has been changed to have the panel on the second floor, the bathroom vent is connected, and the gas line has been run to the appliances as well. now i have to finish up some insulation and the vapor barrier, and it is off to the races to drywall the place.

the bike: i have begun to acquire parts to assemble a new training ride, a GF ferrous 29er. both bikes will have the ability to be run as gears or ss, rigid or shocked. it is the ultimate setup. pics to follow.

the weekend: i am moving James to madison this weekend, and i am not looking forward to giving up another friend to the mad city. the next two days will be miles on the bike, and after saturday i am off for the week from the bike; one last big hour push in march to transition into the speed work for the h8r....

Sooo, prezes bought a new house and there is a handful of us that will be going to madison to aid in the frigid move. we are leaving on friday, Maciej and i, and we will bust out a cold weather move for my broski. i am anxious to see the new house, and i will post a pic or two.

So the way to train in winter is with some great people in a half busted house. The longest part of the training was cleaning up the dining room to ready the room for the polska bitches. if you arent riding by now you will be hurting for race season. its all about base. its all about good company as well. sorry for those individuals that were invited, there is only so much room in the house.

i have some bad news for all to read.

Tommy has passed away and will be deeply missed. he loved team polska and did so much for the team that he never had to. he also was a very close friend of mine, someone who was a brother to me. he was always there for me and would never complain about helping me; i loved having him pop in at unexpected times. if you knew tommy, emulate him. he was one of the greatest people i have ever met.

The roof is done....and i am in atlanta to help the old man with his house. i have to repair the roof as there was shingle blow off. he wants me to also do PVC trim around the windows and house, as well as gutter repairs. we have to also install two screen doors, tile a foyer and paint two rooms. not to mention other things as well.
i wont post much more till i am home.

OOOOH shit. i even have gutters on that bitch.

As of late, i have been neglecting the house again and have been back on the bike. Here is a recap of what has happened in the last few races.

BORDER BATTLE

the border battle was a blast of an event.

it was near the twin cities, and as a result, i rode out there with maciej and schutte. what a fucking blast of a trip it was. it was like being in the firehouse, only in the confines of an auto. maciej came out swinging on the way and well needless to say it was one of the best trips i have had in a car for some time.

the race was great, i had some bad ass legs and was able to finish 4th overall behind the respectable Joe Curtes. there were two others that were a touch ahead of us, and by the looks of it, i should be in a great state to take a win at rhinelander as i have the first wave start and Joe not being there. i would still like to beat Joe fair and square, as i will still have two shots to do so.

AAAhhhhh yes. this is the time of year when either you are getting faster, or you are getting slower. fortunately i am on the upswing for once in my life. i cant count the number of years i have been on the downswing at this point in summer.

i have to thank the busy spring that i had with school, and of course the hurricane house. now i am riding and well i am finding more speed. i am lacking on the endurance, but in all i am on decent form.

Races

as far as the races have gone, i took fourth and third at the last wors races respectively. i also won my first time trial at crystal ridge. that was cool as shit. lead the whole thing.

i have found that it is cool to get in front and be the aggressor and well make others chase.

PROPS.

i have to give props to the new riding partner James L. sick fast happens in his blood and it is good that we can push each other at times. hopefully we can both get a bit faster...maybe we will bring maciej along for the ride as Ronsta is broke.

i was going to trade in the XC on it but they would only give me 1000 in trade. i told them that it was worth more to me burnt or stolen. so i kept it. maciej says that we can "roll it" and i dont think that the ebrake trick will work so well on a wagon, it has a lower center of gravity. wait, more speed and it might work. that would mean more tumbles, but it is a volvo....what the hell.

at this time in one week i will be in the heart of iowa, doin it trans iowa style. we are leaving on friday at about ten in the morning as we have a race meeting at 7pm. thats when we will learn what the route is and all that jazz. the race then begins at 330 in the morning on saturday. good times. the time limit would ensure a finish at about noonish on sunday. i hope to have finished by then. ill need to start to look at the weather in greater detail as it will determine the clothing that i will need to bring along.

on the brighter side, i am looking at building the new race machine on wednesday. i also am registering for classes this fall at the same time (9am), so its an exciting day. mostly for the bike.

as for the volvo, i was hoping to have it up and running by today, but as ups decided to deliver the package to the wrong address in mass, it still is in limbo for repair. i dont think that i will have it back by the end of the month, so i am hoping by the first wors race in iola that i will be up and running.

i need to give a touch of props to the fellow trans-iowans.
prezes-- the original trans-iowan is up for a second year. he is the main reason we are going. a touch of company for the first polska trans-iowan.
chudy-- he is my main rival on the team, we have a great history together and look forward to the season. unfortunately he is opting for half the distance in the race, which means that marcin and i will be solo after about 14 hours.
manthe-- he is probably the only guy on the team that does not have a nickname, we will have to work on that. he has had some troubles with consistency on the bike due to health problems associated with his wife, and i believe that all is well and he is on the bike now. unfortunately he will spend a touch of time in the team car with maciej as he is looking at about 14 hours as well.
porucznik-- he is the man that will drive the team car and pick up our battered bodies and take us to the hotel. he also has offered to do a pre-race meal at two in the morning.

i guess that i am thrilled that all my fellow team mates are as interested as i am at supporting each other for an insane purpose. ahh the joys of racing on team polska. it justifies all the cold winter shit riding. or at least it justifies an ass-ton of base miles that i would not have done otherwise.

good enough, for now at least.

Alright. i'm back. i know that i have been gone for quite some time, however i have not forgotton the password here so it is within reason. lets get right into it....
The training. it has been going very well. i have 80 plus hours of base in during March and i am now working on speed. the few workouts that i have done have been quite impressive, i seem to have great speed, much like last year. in that respect i am greatly pleased. the trans iowa race is about 2 weeks away and i know that barring problematic weather, i will finish. the tough thing will be to transition to a 2 hour fast race the week after. i do not expect speed until mid to late may at the soonest.
The expo. i spent some 30 hours at the 23rd annual wheel and sprocket bike expo selling road bikes. it trashed my legs and the hamstrings were full on bitching. there were a lot of people that i have not seen for some time there and it was all around pleasurable, despite the legs. so i skipped the three workouts i was going to do in the name of helping Jesse. if you need any bike supplies, see Jesse at the North Shore Wheel and Sprocket. www.wheelandsprocket.com
The Volvo. i flushed the transmission and i have the ABS control module out for repair. hopefully i will have it back in service by the 20th.
